Portland Book Drive: We'll Pick Up Your Books

Children's Book Bank at SMART Reading collects gently used children's books from around Portland, and volunteers sort, clean, and repair every one by hand. The books go home with kids as bundles of 14, enough to build a real home library instead of just one book. Every Head Start child in Multnomah County gets a bundle, along with kids at preschools and elementary schools across the metro area.

They've distributed over a million books to more than 100,000 Portland-area kids since they started. They accept donations at their NE Portland warehouse Monday through Friday, but they aren't able to pick up. That's the part we're covering this year.

Sonder Northwest is a Portland real estate team, and community work is a standing part of how we operate. Every closing includes a donation to a local nonprofit, and we volunteer year-round with organizations including ReFIT, Blanchet House, and PDX Diaper Bank.
